Title: How can i make change it from drop select box to multiple select

How can i make change it from drop select box to multiple select check box or multi select feature so that with one click i can multiselect.

Try to use relations tab for the product. There is an option for multi select

OK just tried selecting categories holding the ctrl key and the menu doesn't collapse. Good enough for me.
