Can I make modifications in Abantecart code as per my business needs?

Yes.

First, if it within the theme, suggestion is to download dev_tools and clone your theme.

If it's beyond that, search the forum. Lot's of good info here.

If not, address it to the dev team. Great folks and always helping.

Abantecart is one of the most diverse platforms around and trust me, I have seen them all.

Post specific questions in the appropriate forum and you will get an answer.
