I want to send sms to my customers on various events like order confirmation, status change etc... How I can configure SMS service?
"System - Settings - IM" what is it? Is it for SMS configuration?

Hello.
First you need to configure SMS provider extension. In core we have two Textmarketer (https://www.textmarketer.co.uk/abantecart) and Twillio.

But customer is not getting sms notification on account registration or on new order placement.

Hi. By default when customer create account all IM notification are disabled. Customer can manage their SMS notifications only if mobile number added to account in Account > Notifications section.

I didn't find any notification settings / provision to get SMS on new order confirmation.
And what about SMS notification on customer registration?

New order and New customer registration notification work for Administrators only. You can enabled it in Admin
