Hello,
I have a small doubt with UPS extension.
In you documents you have mentioned that :
Weight Code: - Allowed kgs or lbs. Make sure you match the weight class with the UPS accepted weight code.
Weight Class: - Set to kilograms or pounds.
but all my products are in Ounces.
is it possible that I can only send 4 ounce of my product?
and when customer tracks my order is it possible that they will see the shipment weight in ounce not in pounds..???
-
Hello, we provide the UPS enhanced integration in the MarketPlace - not trying to sell you the extension - just letting you know we're quite knowledgeable about the shippers.
Here's what we say:
Important Note: Weight and length class must be set correctly within the System > Settings > Details page.
In Metric locations use: Kilogram in Weight Class fields and Centimeter in Length Class.
In US or other non-metric locations use: Pound in Weight Class and Inch in Length Class.
So you set your system to pounds, and then you can use ounces in your products - the extension will use the ounces for the lookup by making the calculation for you.
You do NOT have to use decimal equivalents - eg 4 ounces does not need to be input on your product as .25 pounds
the important thing is the system settings and the product information needs to be in the same class - metric in both or non-metric in both.

Thanks for the info.. It answers half of my question, your extension will automatically convert ounce to pounds
but when I give tracking info to customer it will be should in ounce not pounds??
I think UPS uses pounds as their standard measuring unit is this correct?
so what ever ounces we specify, UPS will convert it into pounds.
I am actually looking for UPS extension to display weight in ounces

To be clear - the default UPS works the same for the settings.
and yes, both the default and our enhanced return the wt in lb , but it converts to a decimal equivalent
like .17 lb
If you would like us to alter your extension to show ounces, we can look at that. But that would only affect your cart display for wt.
Please contact us directly at sales@abantecart.com (the email icon here works for that also) if you want to discuss this further.
just to be curious - why is the display in ounces a necessity? You don't have to show the wt on the invoice - that is optional within the cart.
And I believe UPS will "round up" to the next pound for their overall calculation and when the customer looks up on the UPS site it will show 1 pound rather then 10 ounces as an example.
