Title: Left column categories

Hello
I installed the latest version and have been trying to get the categories to show up in the left column but so far no luck. I have tried to generate a block, make sure it is on, tried to put it in the left column but no luck.
Are there clear instructions somewhere on how to achieve this ?

Make sure the column is enabled. It have separate on/off button
