Is there a way to restrict textarea entries to a defined number of characters when configuring a global attribute?

Problem solved, I downloaded the update file and replaced content.php.

Whenver I click on the Design - Content option within the admin panel of my cart I receive a error message saying

"There has been an error processing your request

Please check error log for more info. You can check error log in the control panel if it is functional. Otherwise, refer to error log located in your web server"

Any idea why this is happening and how I can rectify the problem? Without access to the Content Manager I am unable to amend T&C details etc.

The error log says

"2013-07-24 16:37:41 - load error:  AbanteCart core v.1.1.6 Error: Could not create grid. Grid column model contains reserved column name ("parent"). in <b>/home/notjust/public_html/store/admin/controller/common/listing_grid.php</b> on line <b>101</b>"

Hi, I am running v1.1.6 but have the issue originally mentioned here "The link you have used to enter the PayPal system contains an incorrectly formatted item amount." Any suggestions on how to correct this? The Paypal extension is listed as Version: 1.0.1
