I ran into something like this when I cloned a site across different domains and had lingering admin sessions messing things up. Even after clearing the cache and making sure only the new domain was in play, some extensions were throwing weird behavior. The marketplace connection wasn't the culprit in my case either, it was more about how the extensions were reacting to the switched domain and some small overlooked settings carried over from export/import.

Yeah, Avatax prices are crazy for a small operation. I'm in a similar boat and ended up using a combo of manual setup and a cheaper API-based service. I use TaxCloud, it's not super flashy but it's way more affordable and handles multi-state rates decently. No native Abantecart integration either, but their API isn't too bad if you're comfortable setting it up or can get someone to help.

And yeah, your accountant's right, once you hit nexus in other states (economic or physical), you're supposed to collect there too. It's a pain, but ignoring it can come back to bite later. Keep it lean early on, but set yourself up to scale without headaches.

How-to questions / Re: Need to learn CSS?
June 06, 2025, 11:49:17 AM
W3Schools is great for hands-on learning, super beginner-friendly. I used it when I was getting back into web stuff after a long break, and it helped a lot. Tweaking the code and seeing instant results really makes things click. Just keep experimenting and don't be afraid to break things, that's how you learn.

Opinions / Re: Advantages over Shopify and Prestashop
January 04, 2025, 06:31:51 AM
It's definitely more customizable than Shopify,  but the learning curve is steeper.  PrestaShop is somewhere in between, easier to learn than AbanteCart, but less flexible.  Cost-wise, AbanteCart is a one-time fee, so it can be cheaper in the long run if you're serious about building a business.

I've tried something similar with discount setups when running a small online store. I used sequential discount vouchers; keeping track of usage was tricky initially. What worked for me was using codes that expired after a single use, forcing customers to redeem them in order. It made things more straightforward but still required an organized system to manage.

New Features Discussion / Re: AI Tools for AbanteCart
December 25, 2024, 12:04:52 PM
AI-powered product recommendations on the front end would be killer. Imagine suggesting related items or things customers who bought this also bought. On the backend, an AI chatbot for customer service inquiries could save a ton of time. Maybe even AI-driven inventory management to predict demand and prevent stockouts?
