i think i may do the same set-up as you

i have developer tools in my browser (palemoon) so i just chose your returning customer block and did what i thought would work
but yours is simpler and probably a better work-around

i have uploaded abantecart on a localhost and will do the bulk of the work there,
make some notes, then on to the the live store

i've seen this message too, many times
try palemoon (it is better than firefox anyway) and still has the web developer to inspect and adjust
in the very bottom right corner you will see the adblocker icon (little red shield with ABL) click it and allow for abantecart

but it has never affected anything in abantecart's actual interface,
so unless you notice something not working i would not worry

i checked the documentation and it is supposed to allow the admin to see the site and visitors to see the maintenance page

at least i am not alone in this

i wonder what would cause this anomaly?

makes it frustrating toggling back and forth between maintenance and regular for every little change i want to view

just a note on my experience trying to register

i kept getting the message i could not register because i was a spammer,
tried many times , finally gave-up
came back the next day to try and find an email for the admin,
and my login (that would not go through the night before) worked without a confirmation email

i am using ver. 1.2.9 as well

i have it working now, i just toggled it off and on, cleared cookies each time and now it is functioning properly

well it worked once and only once,
now it is back to just displaying the maintenance page

tried clearing cookies, internal abantecart cache, different browsers to no avail

but since it did work once, there must be a fix, but i can't find it

i am in maintenance mode,
but i only see the maintenance page even when logged in as admin and pressing the link to the storefront from dashboard
