Must have been a time zone issue as suddenly at 09:33 they all appeared!

I have set some sale items to start on November 1st, however it is now 09:15 on the 1st and they are still not reflecting. I am in South Africa, has the time zone got anything to do with it?

Can anyone point me in the right direction please. I get the following warning when using the Enquiry mail feature :

General Support / Re: Alert Email not working

I also have a problem with Alert Email.
When a customer places an order, an email is sent to the customer, but I do not receive an email to tell me that an order has been placed.
The mail protocol that i use is "mail". When i check the error logs I get the following :
