Tips and Tricks / Re: Associate customers to categories
October 14, 2026, 02:24:19 PM
Hello Basara,

Thanks for the clarification! A custom extension would be a useful solution for managing product and category visibility based on customer groups in AbanteCart.

Thanks for your feedback!

Support / Re: Receiving Spam Emails
October 11, 2026, 12:39:08 PM
Quote from: icrashin2000 on December 04, 2018, 07:51:34 AMHi All,

I seem to be receiving a lot of spam emails marked "Enquiry" in my messages inbox which when opened, relate to lots of things like "New Casino" or "You can't miss this offer". I'm using the Mail setting in Abantecart and I'm not sure how to set this up so that anything like that gets blocked. Does anyone have any advice please?

Many thanks.

The messages you're receiving likely originate from your AbanteCart store's contact form. If these emails are being automatically generated by bots, enabling Google reCAPTCHA can reduce spam. The procedure is described in the official AbanteCart documentation: https://abantecart.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AD/pages/6258768/Google+reCAPTCHA.

Before adjusting any settings, it's best to pinpoint the exact source of these messages. The solution will vary depending on the situation.

Can you tell me if the emails with the subject line "Information Request" are coming through the store's contact form, or if they're arriving directly at your email address without going through the form? Depending on the answer, you'll need to either strengthen the form's security or configure your email's spam filtering.

Understandably.

Hello Basara, thank you for sharing this very informative post! I have a few questions I'd love to hear your thoughts on. First, how can we determine whether a product or service is suitable for a subscription-based business and has the potential to keep customers interested in the long run? Also, for entrepreneurs in countries where mobile money is more widely used than bank cards, are there any simple alternatives to Stripe and PayPal that can be integrated with AbanteCart to manage recurring payments? Finally, when customers miss payments or decide to cancel their subscriptions, what strategies would you recommend to encourage them to stay or return without making them feel pressured? Thank you in advance for your insights and practical advice!

Tips and Tricks / Re: Associate customers to categories

Hello Basara,

Thanks for the reply, Basara!

Just out of curiosity, how would this work in AbanteCart? Would we need a custom extension to show different products and categories depending on whether a customer belongs to group A or B, including hiding the relevant menu items?

Or is there already an extension that can do this?

I think this would be useful for others who want to offer different products to different types of customers. Thanks for clarifying!

Would it be possible for me to indulge my curiosity and ask you some more questions on the forum?

-- OR --

You specify the action with the action column in the import file.

Thank you for your reply; it makes me very happy.

The import supports both creating new products and updating existing products from the same file. Therefore, the CSV structure requires a Name column.

Thanks for the clarification. I have one question about how AbanteCart handles the import when the same CSV file is used to both create new products and update existing ones. How does AbanteCart determine whether a product already exists and should be updated, or whether it is a new product that needs to be created? For example, if the CSV contains a Name column, is the product name used to match an existing product? If so, what happens if two products have the same name? Or should we use another field, such as the Product ID or SKU, to identify existing products? It would be helpful if you could provide an example of the correct CSV structure for both creating new products and updating existing products.

Security / Re: Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead
October 06, 2026, 04:52:55 PM
Hi, that Firefox warning almost always points to an SSL certificate problem: either none is installed, it has expired, or it was issued for a different domain. In my experience the quickest fix is to log into your hosting panel (cPanel or Plesk), open the SSL section and enable the free Let's Encrypt certificate for your domain. After that, try loading the store with https:// in front. If the warning is still there, tell us which host you're on and we can look closer.
