Hi Basara, thanks for the reply.

I know how to upload the image but I do not know where to find them and what pixels to make the images, that is my issue.

Support / Creating a menu - icon
« on: August 01, 2019, 04:57:50 PM »
Hi guys,

I have a question:

In the main menu, next to the checkout icon, I want to create an additional menu that would lead to my blog.

Although I pretty much understood how to set it up, I face one issue:

I want to upload a "blog"-icon (since I did not find any in the library). How do I find one - with the need size - or in essence how do I do it?

Thank you in advance.

New Features Discussion / Buyable Pins for Pinterest
« on: August 01, 2019, 03:48:14 PM »
Hi guys,

here is an idea - proposition that I came across quite recently and it has to do with Pinterest.

The link to the article that I recently read was this one:
Code: [Select]
https://www.websitebuilderexpert.com/building-online-stores/how-to-sell-on-pinterest/
My point is this:
There are a couple of other platforms that have integrated in them the option of creating a Buyable pin through Pinterest.

The main concept behind it is this:
As someone searches through Pinterest, you can create an additional button-pin on your products' pins (assuming that you have a Pinterest account) that allows the person to buy your eshop's products directly though Pinterest,

In all honesty I have no idea if it can be done but it would be amazing if we could do this - that of course is my personal assumption.

I don't know, what do you guys think?

New Features Discussion / Re: Tracking links and Invoices

Hi Basara and thank you for pointing it out to me; frankly I never saw that - my mistake obviously.

Thank you for it  :)

New Features Discussion / Re: Tracking links and Invoices and Mods
« on: June 12, 2019, 03:01:11 PM »
Hi Basara,

yes you can post the URLs on the comment sections of your orders but so as for the customer to actually see it, he will have to copy-paste the URL on his browser and then click enter.

Instead you could give something like an "insert-link" attribute which would allow the customer to only click on it and the respective URL opens up automatically.

By the way here is another suggestion (I also changed the topic's title accordingly):

Is it possible to allow some people to become something like moderators for your online shop?

Why I am saying this:
As you are the super admin you want full control over everything, to be able to observe the stats etc.

But when your online shop becomes successful you want to add people to do stuff that usually the super admin would do like: responding to customers, changing prices on products etc.

Nevertheless, there are things that as a super admin you do NOT want the moderators to see like: the money you make, your shop's stats and so forth.

In other terms, you want people to be able to take care of the basic time consuming things while, at the same time, you do not want them to be able to know your income or doing things that could mess up your store like: deleting products and so forth.

Obviously, this involves a lot of programming no doubt about it.

But since I love Abantecart - this is why I am making this proposition.

Think about it like this: that at some point, if an online store is that successful and is to go international, more people will have to be involved in managing the online store - thus, such an option (aka, mods) will have to become available eventually.

New Features Discussion / Tracking links and Invoices
« on: June 11, 2019, 04:44:37 PM »
I would like to make a proposition so as to further enhance Abantecart's amazing features.

Using Abantecart for a while now, I can say with confidence that it is amazing.

Nevertheless, since it is an online shopping platform here are the two main points that I would like to point out:

1. When completing a sale, you will also have to ship the product. When talking to the customers and trying to provide them with a tracking number and tracking-link, there is no option in which you could add a tracking URL on which, when the customer clicks on, would open the relevant tracking site's section.

2. Invoices. Although, the invoicing is done automatically by Abantecart it looks a little "primitive". In other words, it is more a matter of aesthetics rather than an actual issue.

I believe that looking into the two aforementioned areas, it would further enhance Abantecart's amazing experience.

Finally, what I wrote here is not to criticize Abantecart - on the contrary, it is more to further develop this amazing platform.

Sincerely

Hi Basara,

In all honesty I have no idea.

I just see it from time to time (rarely though) pop-up and I was wondering what is going on here?!

A final question: even if such an error occur it does not affect a customer when placing an order or checking out etc, correct?

Support / About Currency Auto Updater Warning
« on: April 22, 2019, 03:56:13 PM »
Hi guys I have a question:

I receive from time to time the following error:

"Currency Auto Updater Warning: Currency rate code GBP not updated"

Something that I did encounter in the past as well.

Long story short I was advised to go to Alpha Vantage and to create my own"API key".

After I received it, I went to the relevant currency.php file and updated the specific section.

So, even after a couple of months, why do I still get that error again, any ideas?

Thanks in advance

News and Announcements / Re: AbanteCart 1.2.14 is now released

Hi guys,

just as an update.

As I was waiting for Abolado's reply - so as to make sure that I will not mess up things - the next day; everything appears to have been updated?!

I mean all features (from what I could see) have been added and AbanteCart has been updated to the newest 14 version (something that is also shown at the bottom of the page).

On top of that, another serious issue that I was confronted with (namely a js file that would mess up my product relations) has been resolved as well!!

Wow  :)

My guess would be cloudflare but I cannot be sure about it.

And finally, as if it wanted to troll me, I still receive a massage to upgrade to the newest version.

I do not know what to say but I do love the new features that you guys did add.

Thanks  ;)

Hi abolado,

yes, first I upgraded the Abantecart version on my test site and there were no problems.

Then, I went to the live version.

Basically, the live version has not issues besides some that I did point out (on the admin side).

So, to the topic at hand:
Are you suggesting that I should go to the database

find the table  `abdw_custom_lists

delete the 'store_id' column and than re-install version 14?

Just to be sure before I proceed doing anything.

Regards,
Nik

Hi guys,

I updated to the latest version, the message was that the update was successful but when I looked at the bottom of the page I still saw version 13 instead of 14.

When I checked if everything was updated (in install/Upgrade History) everything was upgraded OK.

Afterwards, when I checked the error log I saw the following:

"
database error: AbanteCart core v.1.2.13 SQL Error: Duplicate column name 'store_id'
Error No: 1060
SQL:
ALTER TABLE `abdw_custom_lists`
ADD COLUMN `store_id` INT NULL DEFAULT 0 AFTER `id`;
in <b>/.../core/database/amysqli.php</b> on line <b>109</b>
"

Finally, when I went to the specific database, the column "store id" does exist etc...

What is more, when I open a product the option of:

Stock Locations:
Locations:

 is available in my cloned store but in the live version it does not appear.

OK, I am puzzled.

Any insights guys I would highly appreciate?

I thank you in advance.  :)

PS: I read the documentation but couldn't find anything in regards to this.
PS 2: when opening the version.php file it displays the correct version.
Code: [Select]
<?php
define
('MASTER_VERSION''1');
define('MINOR_VERSION''2');
define('VERSION_BUILT''14');

Hi Abolado, thanks for the quick reply.

So the only thing that I do change in the following code is:

Code: [Select]
INSERT INTO `{your table_prefix}settings`( `store_id`, `group`, `key`, `value`) VALUES ( 0, 'details',   'alphavantage_api_key',  '-your-own-api-key-');
Is

Code: [Select]
'-your-own-api-key-' -> with the API KEY that I did receive?

Thanks again

***Update:***

I apologize for the bombardment of my questions, but which table do I use for "your table_prefix"? I am looking at a ton of tables right now and I do not want to mess with them?

***Update 2:***

Instead of going to the database, can I not do the following?

To change directly the Api Key with the new that I did receive in the code below?

Code: [Select]
public function updateCurrencies()
    {
        $this->load->model( 'setting/setting' );
        $settings = $this->model_setting_setting->getSetting( 'details', 0 );
        $api_key = isset( $settings['alphavantage_api_key'] ) && $settings['alphavantage_api_key'] ? $settings['alphavantage_api_key'] : '************'; <<<------ This one here -------
        $base_currency_code = $settings['config_currency'];

Hi abalabo and thank you for your reply.

I did go to alphavantage and I did get my API Key.

Just for clarification reasons and to see if I have understood you correctly.

In the following code:
Code: [Select]
INSERT INTO `{your table_prefix}settings`( `store_id`, `group`, `key`, `value`) VALUES ( 0, 'details',   'alphavantage_api_key',  '-your-own-api-key-');

I do the following changes (if I am wrong please correct me):

Code: [Select]
{your table_prefix} -> This I DO change

Code: [Select]
( `store_id`, `group`, `key`, `value`) ->This I do NOT change

Code: [Select]
0, 'details', ->This I do NOT change

Code: [Select]
'alphavantage_api_key', -> I insert the API Key that I did receive

Code: [Select]
'-your-own-api-key-' -> and what do I do here since the API Key that I did receive goes in the previous section?

I thank you in advance
