Which version of AbanteCart are you using? 

Look at the Whitelabel extension in the marketplace -  it has a very easy way to add a message to the footer of the invoice email.

can you clearify something for me?  When selling download files must you check the shared download or just change the status to on?

Here's the documentation on downloads and there is a good video there also.

I am not quite sure as to your question are,  but it is usually just turn the status to On to make it available.
