How to install Credit Card Payment Gateway

It will depend on your country and what it supports...but I'd start here:

I personally use Stripe and Paypal Express... (US market).

Stripe is the easiest to start with and to manage.

Just checked while additional configuration... stripe doesnt work for india :(

Customers can pay me thro paypal.com through pay via creditcard option even if they don't have a paypal account. Is that correct?

that is true in the US.  You should check with PayPal for India and see what they are offering.
Each country comes with it's own offerings it seems.

Also in the marketplace there is an extension for Pay U India  - which might be useful to you
