Can't make Weight based shipping extension work

I have installed weight based shipping but cannot get it to work or appear at all. For all my products, I have:
Requires shipping ON
Free shipping OFF
Ship product individually OFF
and I have entered weights for each item as well as the weight:cost,weight:cost info. Nothing seems to make it work. When I add items to my cart, it simply adds up the prices but nothing for shipping. Getting very frustrated now. Help, please.
