How to edit Customer account?

How do you edit the page that a customer sees while they are logged into their account? Like say for instance if I wanted to remove the downloads link or move all those boxes around? I tried in the design section through admin panel but had little luck. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!

Hello.

To remove Downloads you can disable them in Admin > System > Settings > General. This will hide Downloads link and block.
If you want to add blocks go to Design > Layouts > Customer Account Pages layout.
