How do I set a default shipping method?

I'd like to set my checkout process to have free shipping pre-selected by default - can someone direct me to the correct file to modify, as well as hopefully point out what needs to be modified in the file code to make this happen please? Your help will be very much appreciated

I believe you can set extension to be selected by default and it will be auto selected. Try if this works.

This is strange, and I think I owe an apology somehow. I was going over the checkout progress and after creating an account I had to select free shipping and then press enter before the payment options would appear. I checked and the option you referenced was already set to yes, so I made no changes. Only now I can't replicate that issue in registered account checkout. I can't explain it (a page loading issue perhaps?), but regardless I absolutely should have done more vetting on this before posting my question, so I apologize for apparently wasting your time
