Want to get rid of Quantity box and 'Total Price" on product page

Hi,
I would like to get rid of the QTY panel (and number) and also of the "Total Price" item on the product page. I have tried to edit the product.tpl file but have not been successful. I can't work out where the product page gets its information from. Even if I rename the product.tpl file it sill displays the product. (Yes, I have cleared the cache, numerous times.) I just can't work it out. Help would be very much appreciated. The reason I would like to get rid of these items is because I sell paintings and there is by default only one and the price is already displayed, there are no variations. So it doesn't make any sense to have these items. I attach a screenshot of the two items. Once again, many thanks for any help. Cheers Stefan

Would setting Track Stock = Yes, Qty = 1 and Maximum Qty = 1 help? You can also set the store to auto disable products when they become sold out.

Thanks for the suggestion. But it does not actually get rid of the box and the 'Total Price' line and $ amount. I am sure it will need some code adjustment. But I cannot find the right file. Thanks again. Cheers
