Recommendations for Must-Have Extensions to Improve AbanteCart Stores

Hello AbanteCart community,

I'm currently exploring different extensions to improve both the backend management and the customer shopping experience on my store. There are so many options available, and I'd love to hear what other store owners find the most useful.

Some questions for discussion:

Which extensions do you consider essential for running a successful AbanteCart store?

Are there any free extensions that provide a big impact (e.g., SEO, security, payment gateways)?

What premium extensions have you tried that are really worth the investment?

Has anyone faced compatibility issues with certain extensions when upgrading AbanteCart versions, and how did you solve them?

I think sharing experiences will be very valuable, especially for those of us who want to get the best out of AbanteCart without wasting time on trial and error.

Just a couple of things I noticed which kind of hurt when we migrated over that seem to be missing or awkward from past other systems we used.


  • Image logo on email and invoice
  • Product Image on Invoice purchase line
  • Include Sort Order in main product summary list, so this can be set quickly instead of having to go into each product individually to set.
  • Add ability for GIF images to work as product images. For example i have some small short animated gifs that id prefer to use as images instead od the complexity of videos.
  • Customisable Email Templates so we can create, save and send emails out with a nice logo formatted template to our customers.
  • Fix currency issue on promotions. If you only have sterling as your currency,  for some reason the promotion only offers dollars as the discounted value
  • Ability to credit refund an existing order to produce a credit note and update transaction logs so reports are accurate.   The actual account gateway would separately need to be used to complete thr financial transaction refund which is fine, but we need to at least credit the order in abante first. AND produce a credit note.  This ensures reports in abante are also correct.

What theme are you using? Could you please share a screenshot? Are you referring to Specials or Quantity Discounts?

I will respond when at a pc.

However short answers below to help you for now.

1, Email Templates.  Agreed but some items rely on additional changes elsewhere to make certain functions work. Eg product images on the order or / invoice product line is not straight forward.  This sort of thing is standard on other platforms. Ill see if I can share an example of what i mean.

2, I'm using the standard template Novator.

Product > Promotions Tab > Add Discount.

If you see when you add, you are offered  a % or $, but I only have £ setup and enabled as a valid currency. So its wrongly offering a currency that i dont have enabled and cannot use it against the one I do want to use.
