Recommendations for Must-Have Extensions to Improve AbanteCart Stores

Hello AbanteCart community,

I'm currently exploring different extensions to improve both the backend management and the customer shopping experience on my store. There are so many options available, and I'd love to hear what other store owners find the most useful.

Some questions for discussion:

Which extensions do you consider essential for running a successful AbanteCart store?

Are there any free extensions that provide a big impact (e.g., SEO, security, payment gateways)?

What premium extensions have you tried that are really worth the investment?

Has anyone faced compatibility issues with certain extensions when upgrading AbanteCart versions, and how did you solve them?

I think sharing experiences will be very valuable, especially for those of us who want to get the best out of AbanteCart without wasting time on trial and error.

Just a couple of things I noticed which kind of hurt when we migrated over that seem to be missing or awkward from past other systems we used.

• Image logo on email and invoice
• Product Image on Invoice purchase line
• Include Sort Order in main product summary list, so this can be set quickly instead of having to go into each product individually to set.
• Add ability for GIF images to work as product images. For example i have some small short animated gifs that id prefer to use as images instead od the complexity of videos.
• Customisable Email Templates so we can create, save and send emails out with a nice logo formatted template to our customers.
• Fix currency issue on promotions. If you only have sterling as your currency,  for some reason the promotion only offers dollars as the discounted value
• Ability to credit refund an existing order to produce a credit note and update transaction logs so reports are accurate.   The actual account gateway would separately need to be used to complete thr financial transaction refund which is fine, but we need to at least credit the order in abante first. AND produce a credit note.  This ensures reports in abante are also correct.

What theme are you using? Could you please share a screenshot? Are you referring to Specials or Quantity Discounts?

I will respond when at a pc.

However short answers below to help you for now.

1, Email Templates.  Agreed but some items rely on additional changes elsewhere to make certain functions work. Eg product images on the order or / invoice product line is not straight forward.  This sort of thing is standard on other platforms. Ill see if I can share an example of what i mean.

2, I'm using the standard template Novator.

Product > Promotions Tab > Add Discount.

If you see when you add, you are offered  a % or $, but I only have £ setup and enabled as a valid currency. So its wrongly offering a currency that i dont have enabled and cannot use it against the one I do want to use.

Images to help explain my point 2.  This issue affects both Discounts and Specials.

First image shows I only have GBP Sterling enabled.



In products > Promotions, when I try and add one for my product I only have $ or a % available.  It should offer me £ or % not $ and %.


I could try deleting the $ but thats not going to bring the £ back.

This looks like an admin display issue only, the promotion currency is actually tied to the base store currency you've set in your store settings. You can check or update that here: Base Currency settings.

That said, this is a good catch 👍 Our developer team is already working on correcting the display, and the fix will be included in the upcoming AbanteCart 1.4.3 release.

Im still working on the email templates.  I get what you have said, but the point im making is that we need additional hooks I think or words to that effect to bring in certain data, which is available elsewhere on other platforms.

I'll get back to you on this when I get chance.

This has been resolved, but IDEALLY this should be included as a default feature.

• 2 - Product Image on Invoice purchase line

This has also been resolved partly thanks to this kind person on this thread here https://forum.abantecart.com/index.php/topic,11403.msg43634.html#msg43634 with their post #9.   IDEALLY I want to add this same feature to the EMAIL (as I have said before, which would be great too). 

• 3 - Include Sort Order in main product summary list, so this can be set quickly instead of having to go into each product individually to set.

Not resolved - This REALLY is a straight forward change to a view I think and would massively improve the Abante.

• 4 - Add ability for GIF images to work as product images. For example i have some small short animated gifs that id prefer to use as images instead od the complexity of videos.

Not resolved - This really is a nice to have...  BUT would be a VERY nice to have if it was possible.  Currently animated gifs just show the frame 1.

• 5 - Customisable Email Templates so we can create, save and send emails out with a nice logo formatted template to our customers.

This is resolved partly, but needs enhancements.  Its a bit clunky and we need more hooks to pull data easily into the email template.

• 6 - Fix currency issue on promotions. If you only have sterling as your currency,  for some reason the promotion only offers dollars as the discounted value

This is pending a fix having been accepted as an issue.

• 7 - Ability to credit refund an existing order to produce a credit note and update transaction logs so reports are accurate.  The actual account gateway would separately need to be used to complete the financial transaction refund which is fine, but we need to at least credit the order in abante first. AND produce a credit note.  This ensures reports in abante are also correct.

This is not resolved and hopefully will be in a future release.
