I'd like new customers to be able to tell me how they found out about my store when they create an account.  And if another customer told them I'd like to reward that customer with a discount.  is this something that the Affiliates extension that is in the extension store can do?

As an aside I just like to say the descriptions of the extensions in the extension store are pretty sparse.  It is hard to know what some of the extensions do or if they are worth the money.  Would be good to see a demo of them or a you tube vid or something.

Commercial (paid) extensions are managed by AlgoZone. We will pass details to them.

Based on my knowledge, Customer Attributes extension allows to collect and save additional details from customers when they register. 
Order Attributes do the same per each order.
